Were you breastfed?
Happy Birthday to my mother, Jeannie, who breastfed me until I was 2 1/2 years old!
Not a breastfed baby, but a breastfeeding momma! I was the youngest of three and unfortunately the culture in the 70's was pretty "pro formula." By the time my mom got to me, she had two boys, a four year old and a two year old running a muck. She also did not have support from family, friends, or again, popular culture at the time. I think she tried briefly with the first, but without support or the knowledge of the benefits of breastfeeding, gave up pretty quickly. Which is why education and support groups are so important!
... I thought I made a comment the other day, but I'll try again. I wasn't breastfed, but have breastfed my three girls — ages 9, 6, and 13 months. Still nursing my 13-month-old and plan to do so until she about 2. Love it!
